BIT.TRIP Save Files

So, as many of you already know, BIT.TRIP BEAT only saves if you get a high score.  This has proven to be problematic since BIT.TRIP BEAT is a very difficult game.

Those of us in the US are stuck with this issue.  The Japanese and European versions that came after the US one do not share the same issue.

To offer some help, we’ve made two save game files available (which I made by unlocking levels 2 & 3 on my retail copy of the game).

If you’re having trouble, you can copy one of these to an SD Card and replace your existing BIT.TRIP BEAT save game on your Wii.  These have been fully tested on retail Wii systems and are the real deal.  I hope that the message in the high scores for levels 1 & 2 speak for themselves.  “SRY, ACM”.

Levels 1&2 unlocked.

All levels unlocked.

To use the files above, follow these instructions:

  1. Right click and choose “Save Link As…” or “Save Target As…”.
  2. Browse to the file on your computer and rename it “data.bin”.
  3. Copy data.bin to your SD Card in the following location: \private\wii\title\WTRE.
  4. Insert the SD Card into the front of your Wii Console.
  5. Browse to the Wii Save Data Management screen via the Wii Options Button on the lower left-hand corner of the Wii Menu.
  6. Erase the BIT.TRIP BEAT save data stored on your Wii.
  7. Click on the SD Card tab.
  8. Click on the BIT.TRIP BEAT save data icon and select “Copy”.

The above steps will copy the save data from the SD Card to your Wii and the next time you play BIT.TRIP BEAT, your new levels will be unlocked.

BIT.TRIP CORE does not have this issue.  If you beat a level in CORE, the next level stays unlocked no matter what.

Continue rocking on.  Over and out.

Many people seem to miss online leaderboards. How about releasing a bit trip leaderboard channel wich covers all bit trip games? Don´t forget to include Region, world and combined bit trip masterboard.

  2. BiggerJ says:

Will this bug ever be fixed? Will Nintendo allow the uploading of a fixed version? Or will doing so fulfill the Prophecy of Ph’racch Uuuuuuu’shk and invoke the Curse of Hhhhhcch’raaaaaacch, causing Reggie Fils-Aime’s head to burst open, revealing a trillion tembling tentacles that shall eviscerate every human on the planet, combining their flesh and organs into a single horrible entity that will then unmoor itself from the planet and seek out other life among the stars to assimilate into its unspeakable being?

  3. Jas2o says:

Dr. Mario & Germ Buster / Dr.Mario Online Rx is the only WiiWare game I’ve ever seen an update on the Wii Shop Channel for, so surely any (non Nintendo) game can have an update submitted.

  4. Eric says:

Yeah this seems like a fairly poor solution. Since wouldn’t this mean you lose any existing high scores?

  5. bbuilder says:

Wiiware games can be updated. Hopefully, they will update the game so future customers won’t have this issue.

  6. Alex Neuse says:

Goodness BiggerJ; I hope that doesn’t happen!

  7. Pellican says:

    Hi, there.

I loved the game and still haven’t encountered this problem. Maybe is because I did not finish leve 2 yet (very hard, man).

But I would like to know, just BiggerJ said, if you plan to post an updated version of the game. Nintendo says you can do this in WiiWare (Opera has done it). But is it going to happen or people will have to use this ‘geek’ method?

Not everybody reads gaming sites and I feel it would be very rude to just leave the game as it is on WiiWare.

Anyway, congrats for the spetacular design and I’m looking forward to Bit.Trip Core. Without bugs, of course. :) - just kidding
