Hey everyone!

Feast your eyes on these masterpieces!

We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who submitted graffiti art!  The quality and quantity of art that we got was just amazing–I wish we could have included it ALL!  Hopefully we can work together again someday!

Blip Fest BATTLE OF THE BRANDS First Photos!

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

Hey party people!

So, Chris, Jason, and I are sitting here at Blip Fest 2009 and as promised, are completely dominating the game-in-a-day-challenge that we told you about earlier!

This morning, we sat down at a coffee shop and talked about the game for the first time.  We wanted to make something that screamed “BIT.TRIP” and we wanted to make something that also screamed “Robotube”.  After considering what we could accomplish in a day, we decided to create the tasty tasty lovechild of BIT.TRIP BEAT and Bloktonik.

Here are some quick-n-dirty sneaky peeks at what we’ve done so far…

We’re having a good time so far, and are making great progress!  It’s 4:10, though, so we better be playin’ this thing soon!

Glomag swung by and did a gigantic sound dump, so we’ll be integrating his chipmusic joy soon.  After which, we’ll do another update!

How rockin' are we? Very.

How rockin' are we? Very.

Wish us luck as we finish up the game and work into the night!

CORE-casting

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

Yesterday afternoon, I noticed a tweet from RawkusX beckoning all to come watch him kick some ass on CORE… LIVE AND DIRECT! Of course, I couldn’t help but jump in to watch the fun… and suffering :) Turns out this site justin.tv is a swell place for doing just this sort of thing, i.e. streaming stuff. RawkusX has his own channel called Interrupted Gaming, so check it out!\

By the time he reached the final boss we had a bunch of folks in there all cheering him on, including the entire Gaijin team! And even with that pressure, RawkusX still followed through and sent the Level 3 Boss straight into bit-hell. Fun times. Let’s see more justin.tv action!

In looking around the office recently…

…I noticed a distinct lack of our prize for finding all 10 Q.E.Y.S.

Being the winners of this incredibly difficult contest, I can’t help but run the following words through my mind over and over again:

The first one to send me an email with the correct names of all ten games will win a free copy of a Tomb Raider game of their choice!

Mr. LongoThe words above, as you may have guessed came from the (apparently forgetful) mouth of none other than one Mr. Tim Longo, industry cohort and “friend”.  These words drove the Gaijin crew’s productivity to a halt about half a year ago as thoughts of a Tomb Raider slot machine filled their heads with dreamy delight.  After racking our brains and hours of internet searching, we correctly enumerated all 10 games to which the Q.E.Y.S belonged.

Then where, Mr. Longo, is our prize?  Where indeed?

PS.  Tim, when’re we playing MGS4 again?  I’m free the second weekend in June.

The FUNNYS!

Our good friends over at Virtual Shackles made a comic about Bit.Trip Beat! I think all late night BTB players can relate. I wonder if this would help? Anyhoo, keep an ‘eye’ on these guys!

LOL!

I Thought the Deadline was Today!

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Well, I guess I missed the deadline for Edmund McMillen’s nude portrait contest

Still, though, I just couldn’t resist drawing one of the industry’s best independents in the buff.

Observe.

It’s probably for the best, anyway.  I mean with skills like these, those other entrants wouldn’t have stood a chance!

Great contest, Edmund! I can’t wait to see who won!

So where do all these crazy colors come from? I mean, like you know, metaphysically, dude. BEAT certainly takes cues from the old school games of the late 70s, with their saturated colors and rad gradients. However, not all is Atari and polyester.

In fact, a few of BEAT’s signature shades are copped from the signature shades of our favorite streetware brand: Mishka.

These guys are one of the only brands that rock fresh designs, season after season. You’ll see touches of the 80’s metal, comics, horror, and of course, video games, in their art. Check out their blog for all sorts of tasty bits too.
