You Can RUN, But you Can’t Hide!

February 5th, 2010 by Alex Neuse

It’s true.  Running is a feature in BIT.TRIP RUNNER, but hiding…  Hiding is not.

Holy crap!  Check out this hands-on preview of RUNNER on IGN right now!

For some reason, the vids aren’t in the right aspect ratio, but IGN is looking into it, so don’t worry. CommanderVideo hasn’t put on weight!

Holy Crap! A God Walks Among Us!

Proof!

Click for a bigger image of this tiny TV!

Now of course there have been several perfect scores reported for BIT.TRIP CORE and BIT.TRIP VOID, but this is the first confirmed perfect for BIT.TRIP BEAT!

AND IT’S TOTALLY FREAKING OUT MY BRAINGLANDS THAT IT’S ON LEVEL 3!!

For those of us living “normal” lives, this should be inspiration that we can all be doing just a little bit better.  Humbling, really.  Sophie497, you have officially raised the bar for all of humanity.

Level 3.  Wow.  Growth.

WiiWare Demos Coming Down on Jan. 31st!

January 28th, 2010 by Alex Neuse

Hey party people!

The Official Nintendo Magazine wrote today about how the WiiWare demos are going bye-bye on January 31st.

If you’ve turned on your Wii this morning you will have received a message telling you that you have just three days to download the WiiWare demos that are currently available.

The message from Nintendo reads: “Now’s your final chance to try some of WiiWare’s finest for free. Download the following WiiWare game demos for free via the Wii Shop Channel before the offer expires on 31 January.”

After reading that, I fired up my Wii, as I often do in the morning, and there was no such message waiting for me here in the US.  So this may be a European thing only, since The Official Nintendo Magazine is based out of the UK.

Regardless, I encourage all of you, our #1 fans, to get over to the Wii Shop Channel and gift the BIT.TRIP BEAT Demo Version to everyone you know!

Gift

Do this NOW!

Before it’s GONE!

For GOOD!

Seriously, though.  The WiiWare Demo Program was very helpful for us.  It helped our exposure and our sales quite a bit.  I really hope that Nintendo keeps the Demo Program active. One way to show them that it’s working is to try to get as many demos out there as possible.  So if you feel inclined, get thee to the gifting page!

A Candid Interview–This Time Pants are Optional

January 19th, 2010 by Alex Neuse

Those crafty guys at Bytejacker are always trying to catch us with our pants down, and much to our surprise, this time they actually did!

Check out this candid interview with our very own Chris Osborn as he tries to rest in the appropriate room at the Bell House in New York, during Blip Festival 2009.

2009 was last decade, by the way.  Of course, that means that we are now in THE FUTURE.  I just wanted to point that out.

Also of note are some amazing tidbits that Chris reveals during this interview…

Namely, how the inspiration of the BIT.TRIP series stems from other art forms inspired by yet other art forms that are actually the same art form as the first art form that ended up being inspired by the inspired art forms before them!

And also,  the inevitable upcoming ESRB scandal coming our way…

Hm.

You can DO IT!

January 15th, 2010 by mroush

Hey TRIP’ers! Would you like to make ‘4 bit’ retro looking graffiti for BT4? We are looking for solid colors that are very blocky and in the BIT.TRIP art style. You can post your works of art here or send them to info[AT]gaijingames.com. We’re looking to use an undetermined amount of these fan-generated pieces in-game, so this is your chance to go down in history as a BIT.TRIP CONTRIBUTOR!whaa

2nd Annual Mushroom Bank Raid!

January 14th, 2010 by Alex Neuse

As you may (or may not) remember (or care), last year, we announced a new tradition.

And this year, check out what fell out of our mushroom bank!

Mushroom Bank 2010

MONEY!!!

This year, we managed to squirrel away $84.13!

It’s going to be a pretty good bottle of wine (or other spirits) that comes our way from this bounty!  As is also the tradition, I will promise to update you when the vintage arrives, but fail to do so.  In keeping with tradition, of course.  ;)

The BIT.TRIP series walked away with the Best Sound award, while the Gaijin Games studio co-won the award for WiiWare Developer of the Year alongside Frontier, the makers of the fantastic Lost Winds series.

Anyone can Beat BIT.TRIP BEAT! Proof!

January 4th, 2010 by Alex Neuse

Mom beats BIT.TRIP BEAT

This weekend I was treated to a message from my mother…

My mom and step dad, who are by no means “gamers” and less still “hardcore gamers”, have just finished BIT.TRIP BEAT!

So, to all those comments out there on the internet talking about how challenging BEAT is, I have this to say…

My MOM can beat BIT.TRIP BEAT.

My MOM.

A Way Overdue Holiday Updizzle

December 27th, 2009 by Alex Neuse

Hey internet BFFs!

So, remember when we promised we’d keep you posted on the Blip Festival events as they transpired?  And remember how I wanted to keep people updated blog-wise while I was on my Holiday break? Well, things didn’t turn out 100% as I’d planned…

While working on the game during the show, the internutz took a pooper scooper, so we couldn’t keep y’all updated.  However, Bytejacker was there and they managed to capture three candid vids of Chris, Jason, and I working on BIT.TONIK.  I think they purposefully didn’t start rolling until we were falling asleep in our chairs…

And THEN, I thought I’d get to update the blog while I stayed with family post-Blip Festival, but I came down with a crazy fever and was in no condition to do a post until TODAY when I arrived back in California, my home, where it has its very sweet sweet warmth to share so tenderly upon my skin.

And it is here, in the San Jose International Airport, where I post to this blog.  This WEB LOG.

But!  My cohorts were not so viciously impaired, and Jason Cirillo managed to post the game we made here!

Read the effervescent disclaimers before playing.

Also, I wanted to take tons of pictures, but my camera’s battery did a pooper scoop as well and needs to be replaced.

So, I’m back home, Chris is on his way too, and we’ll be back to work tomorrow, trying to make the recently announced BIT.TRIP RUNNER the best game in the BIT.TRIP series so far!

And last, but certainly not least, while we were away, an interview on Gamasutra with Mike Roush appeared, wherein he discusses the retro-art theme of the BIT.TRIP series.  It’s a good read.  Check it out.

Oh, crap, one more thing.  FANS FOUND US!
